The MLS doesn’t stop for anyone, not even for the World Cup. Plenty of teams have started to report signing players and confirm the departure of others.
Recently, San Diego FC and Columbus Crew have announced new signings to strengthen their defenses and midfield.
Another one who has confirmed a debut was Orlando City with Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman played in Orlando’s friendly match and scored a goal this week.
Now, this new transfer report links The Lions with a departure to the Houston Dynamo.
Griezmann's arrival has paved the way for the departure of a striker who would help Houston's attack and bring more offensive firepower to the Dynamo.
The Houston Dynamo are sitting in seventh place in the Western Conference. However, the MLS team can’t relax, as they are being closely pursued by other teams in the conference.
That’s why the Dynamo doesn’t want to take risks and signed a striker like Duncan McGuire from Orlando City. According to the official website of the Orange Crush:
“Houston Dynamo FC acquired forward Duncan McGuire from Orlando City SC in exchange for $1,250,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) ($600,000 in 2026, $400,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2027/28) both clubs announced today. Orlando may acquire up to an additional $1,150,000 in GAM if certain performance metrics are met.”
This signing comes as a response to the relatively modest production, comparatively speaking, of the team's leading scorer, Guilherme Augusto, who has eight goals in 14 matches.
McGuire arrives to provide another reliable goal-scoring option, helping the Dynamo stay in the playoff race and push for the highest possible finish during the second half of the regular season.
The 25-year-old player signed his contract through 2027 with a Club option for 2028. Pat Onstad, Houston Dynamo’s president, said this about his new signing:
“Duncan is a young striker who has demonstrated an ability to score goals consistently and affect games in the final third.” While also adding, “He has gained valuable experience for his age, and we believe he has the qualities and mentality to continue improving within our environment. We are pleased to add him to the group and look forward to his contributions as we continue our climb up the table in preparation for the playoffs.”
This season, Duncan McGuire played 12 games with Orlando City, recording two goals and zero assists. Although he isn’t looking at his best numbers, his overall career with the Three Lions is 109 games with 32 goals and 7 assists.
