Bournemouth have confirmed that forward and Manchester United target Antoine Semenyo has signed a new deal to extend his stay with them, effectively putting an end to all speculation regarding his future.

Heading into the current summer window, bolstering the attack was Ruben Amorim’s top priority. After securing the signing of Matheus Cunha, United shifted their focus to other targets, including Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and, of course, Semenyo.

Mbeumo remains United’s top transfer target, and talks with Brentford are ongoing after the club’s second bid was rejected.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Semenyo was an alternative for the Red Devils in case their efforts to land Mbeumo hit a wall.

Semenyo enjoyed a superb 2024/25 campaign, netting 13 goals and providing an additional seven assists across all competitions.

He was a key player for the Cherries, featuring in all but one game in the Premier League, which he missed due to suspension. The 25-year-old started in 36 games.

Semenyo also played in all four FA Cup games for Bournemouth as they progressed to the quarter-final stage, scoring two goals and registering one assist. Amorim was mentioned to be an admirer of Semenyo, who was also strongly linked to Tottenham Hotspur.

However, last month, David Ornstein revealed that United and Tottenham had pulled out of the running to sign Semenyo after learning Brentford’s prohibitive asking price.

Ornstein noted that Bournemouth wanted £70million to sanction Semeny’s sale.

Now, Bournemouth have announced that the Ghanaian has put pen to paper on a new deal running until 2030.

Bournemouth’s president of football operations, Tiago Pinto, said, “Antoine has been crucial to the club’s progress and is a key member of the project here at Vitality Stadium.”

“We have a great relationship with Antoine and we’re looking forward to continuing that as we hope to build on a record-breaking season. His commitment to the club matches our ambition and I’m excited to see what can be achieved as we prepare for the new campaign.”

Semenyo remarked, “I’ve grown so much at the club, both on and off the pitch, and I’m really happy to have signed ahead of returning for pre-season.”

“From the fans to the staff and my teammates, I can’t speak highly enough of the people around the club. It’s a great place to be and I’m excited to get back to Bournemouth and continue the hard work with the new season just around the corner.”
