Brazilian legend Thiago Silva has called for his compatriot Casemiro to join him at Porto next season.

Indeed, the ex-Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain veteran wants to ply his trade alongside his fellow international teammate following his impending departure from Manchester United.

Casemiro overseeing final months as a Red

Back in January, Casemiro addressed the Old Trafford faithful directly to confirm that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

United do have the option of extending his stay by an additional 12 months, yet both the midfielder and the hierarchy believed that this summer would be the right time to part ways.

It allows the 34-year-old to leave on his own terms, with his full focus now on helping the side secure their Champions League spot for 2026/2027.

He has remained a mainstay since Michael Carrick took the reins, so much so that supporters are already sweating over how the board will be able to replace such a dependable and experienced member of the squad in the transfer window.

It’s currently unknown where Casemiro will test himself next, having won essentially everything a player could ever want to win in his illustrious career.

Before United and before his scintillating nine-year stint with Real Madrid, he represented his boyhood club Sao Paulo. Then, after progressing from Madrid’s youth ranks, he spent a season on loan with Porto – and Silva wants him to finish the story by returning this year.

Silva’s direct plea to Casemiro

When speaking to TNT Sports recently, the defender said (as translated by Mercado Azul): “Man, the ‘Big Cas’ is a special guy.

“Victorious career, and I believe his time here at FC Porto was really good, even though it wasn’t that long. But it was beautiful to see Cas here, just like Alex Sandro, Danilo, and, well, Hulk. Hulk’s story here in this museum is incredible.

“Anyway, having Cas on our side is way better than having him against us. So the little message we send is: ‘Hey Big Cas, are we doing this or not? Are we teaming up again?’

“It would absolutely be a dream to play with Casemiro again in front of the defence, running, making those wild tackles and protecting the backline, which is what he knows how to do. If it were up to Thiago Silva, this duo is already signed.”
