Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez praised the club’s staff and young talents after scoring the decisive goal in a 1–0 win over Atalanta, a result that sent the Nerazzurri back to the top of the Serie A table with a game in hand.
The Argentine striker once again proved decisive against Atalanta.
Lautaro finishing calmly after an assist from Francesco Pio Esposito, who had just come off the bench.
Speaking to DAZN after the match, Lautaro Martinez reflected on the significance of the victory.
Asked whether it was the perfect gift for supporters, Lautaro replied.
“This is the best gift for the fans. It was a direct clash and Atalanta are a strong team that have done a lot in recent years. You have to face them with what you’ve prepared.
“There was a different coach before and it was difficult under another system too. We played a match similar to the recent ones. We still have to improve, but I’m happy. It’s a gift for the fans and for the families who are always behind us.”
Lautaro then turned his attention to Esposito, highlighting the importance of patience and trust in young players.
“I talk about him often and I speak with him every day. He wants to learn and do well, and that’s part of growth. You have to keep him calm and give him the chance to make mistakes. I believe he’ll give great satisfaction to us and also to the Italian national team. Which is important for you.”

The Inter captain also paid tribute to the club’s staff, explaining how their work helped him rediscover top form after a difficult end to last season.
“Years pass for everyone. I finished last season badly with a hamstring injury. I got injured before the final. Then we went to the World Cup and then to international duty. I worked hard to be in good shape. With young guys pushing behind you, they raise the level. You have to be ready and willing to grow, and I have that desire every day.”
Speaking to InterTV after the match, Lautaro underlined the collective effort behind the win.
“It’s an important victory from a team that wants to send signals. We were facing a tough side that make things dirty. We prepared the match and approached it perfectly.
“There are still things to improve and we must work on that. I’m satisfied with the team’s work and with the substitutes who came on. That’s important for the growth of this group.”
