Congolese striker Merveille Kanjinga netted her first goal of the season for PSG during the opening matchday of the Arkema Première Ligue on Saturday, September 6, 2025, against Lens at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams sharing the spoils.
PSG's women's team was held to a draw by newly promoted Lens in their season opener, despite making a strong start to the match. Perfectly set up by Nigerian international Joe Echegini, Merveille Kanjinga broke the deadlock in the 25th minute of this inaugural Arkema Première Ligue clash, giving the Parisians the lead over the northern side, who were playing their first-ever top-flight match. Having joined last winter, the Congolese forward kicked off her 2025/26 campaign in style.
The match ultimately finished level (1-1) after Sherly Jeudy's late equaliser for Lens in the 84th minute, sending the packed Bollaert-Delelis stadium—home to 10,712 fans—into a frenzy. This draw forces PSG to start their league campaign without a win, up against a debutant opponent. For Lens, this opening point is still a sporting milestone.
