Arne Slot has finally figured out how to play to Mohamed Salah's strengths

Last season, Mohamed Salah was Liverpool's best player by a country mile.

The Egypt international contributed to over 50 goals across all competitions but this term, he's been a completely different player.

His lack of form is due to the position that Slot has played him in this term with the Dutchman trying to get his wingers to stay wide rather than go into the centre.

However, as Salah has shown over the last few years, he's not an out and out winger as he's one of the best inside forwards in the world.

In fact, in the Reds' 4-0 win against Galatasaray, he was almost playing as a striker alongside Hugo Ekitike and, surprise, surprise he managed to score a goal and put in a rather solid performance.

On his day, Salah is still one of the best finishers in the world, and, even though he may have lost his way a bit this season, all the blame can't be place upon his shoulders, especially after the performance he put in on Wednesday.

Liverpool may end up changing their summer transfer window plans

Last season, Salah extended his contract at Liverpool where he agreed to a £400,000-per-week wage.

Altogether, the salary that Liverpool will pay the 33-year-old will be around £20 million and, up until their 4-0 win over Galatasaray, most fans thought that this would be a massive waste of money.

However, if Slot actually plays the Egyptian King in the position that he thrives in, he could help lead them to the Premier League title once again.

Of course, this is a massive ask after the season Salah has had thus far but, if he manages to build upon this impressive performance and ends the 2025-26 campaign on a high, there could end up being no reason for Slot and Richard Hughes to sign a big-money attacker.

Players such as Yan Diomande, Morgan Rogers and Jarrod Bowen have all been linked with Anfield switches lately, but, if Salah can get back to his best, the money they were wanting to spend on a marquee attacker could be distributed evenly among the squad to help improve the Reds' depth.

And, after the number of injuries that Liverpool have endured this term, it's clear that more depth is needed among their ranks.
