Ever since Alexis Mac Allister joined Liverpool back in 2023 he's been a regular feature in the Reds' starting Xi.
And, up until the 2025-26 campaign he was seen as one of their best players but this term, something just hasn't clicked.
He barely moves on the pitch and, even when he does, it often leads to a mistake or at the very least, a turn over in possession.
In fact, the reason that Liverpool were beaten on Sunday was because of the poor clearance he made which led to Kobbie Mainoo grabbing the ball on the edge of the box and blasting it into the back of the net.
BBC Sport journalist Aadam Patel shared his thoughts one the goal and how astonished he was by what he'd just seen Mac Allister do.
"Take nothing away from the finish by Kobbie Mainoo but Alexis Mac Allister has to clear his lines there," he wrote.
"It's another poor goal to concede for Liverpool."
Indeed, all the blame can't be placed upon his shoulders but, when other midfielders are chosen to start over him, Liverpool often perform much better.
Slot obviously has his favourites which is why the Argentinian hasn't been dropped yet but, if we're being honest, it's clear that he's finished at Liverpool, especially if they want to start competing for trophies again.
Mac Allister's performances this season have been woeful which will have massively impacted how much he's worth.
Last summer, the midfielder would've probably been valued at around £70 to £80 million for how good he was.
But, now that he's had an entire season where he's been one of the Reds' main problems, it feels like they'd be lucky if they received £40 million, never mind £80 million.
Real Madrid have long been linked with a move for the 27-year-old and, since a new midfielder is being linked with an Anfield switch every other day, it feels like now is the time for Liverpool to cash in.
They could use the money they earn to put towards another midfielder or, they could even use Mac Allister as a bargaining chip to try and prise Aurelien Tchouameni or Eduardo Camavinga from the Bernabeu.
If a decent enough offer enters Liverpool's office for Mac Allister this summer, it's something that really needs to be considered.
Especially if he's going to be performing at this level for the foreseeable future.
But, for now, if Slot could just drop him from his starting XI and actually play towards his players' strengths, that would at least be a step in the right direction.
