Arne Slot says Hugo Ekitike’s injury looks a “really bad” one after the striker was forced off on a stretcher in the 2-0 defeat to Paris St Germain.
The Liverpool boss says he expects the Frenchman to miss at least the rest of the season but was unsure as of yet how severe it is.
“I think we all saw the video and the clips, that doesn’t look good,” he said.
“88 minutes before tonight we could play with Florian (Wirtz), Alex (Isak) and Hugo.
“We added 27 or 28 to that tonight but I’d be surprised if we can add any more minutes to that this season.
“But the good thing is Alex is back.
“It looks really bad but it’s difficult for me to say how bad. Tomorrow we will investigate it further, how bad it is for him. Let’s see but it doesn’t look good, that’s clear.”

Joe Gomez was also taken off in the second half of the defeat to PSG having earlier been brought on as a substitute, and Slot clarified that it was because of the defender’s worry of sustaining an injury.
“I wanted to make a different substitution and then he said to me he’s not convinced that if he keeps sprinting, he feels something a little bit, and it’s better to go off not to take the risk,” he said.
“That would have been my fourth substitution so then to keep someone on that might get an injury is never a smart thing.
“I had to change the substitution.”
Liverpool’s defeat means they have been eliminated from the Champions League by PSG for the second year running, losing 4-0 on aggregate.
