Arne Slot has admitted a failure to secure Champions League qualification would impact Liverpool in the transfer market this summer.
Liverpool face Brentford on the final day of thePremier League season this weekend, with their place in the Champions League still not assured.
A point will be enough to guarantee a top-five finish and entry into the Champions League, while a superior goal difference leaves the Reds in pole position regardless.
However, Slot will want to ensure his side leave nothing to chance, admitting the absence of Champions League football would change the club's summer strategy.
Liverpool broke transfer records last summer and a loss of Champions League revenue would diminish their ability to spend again.
"Yeah, it does. As I said over the course of three or four months when someone asks me about qualification for the Champions League, yes it has impact when it comes to our plans. That is definitely true," Slot said at hispre-match press conference.
"We know what we need to do. We need to win or have a draw, otherwise we still have an acceptable goal difference.
"I think we would like to give our fans a nice way of ending the season because there have been far too many disappointments this season for us.
"With 'us', I mean the club and that includes the fans, the staff and the players as well. We want to end with a win, knowing that Brentford is playing for something really important as well."
Keith Andrews and Brentford arrive at Anfield also in need of a result. The Bees are outside the European places on goal difference, and will hope to leapfrog Chelsea or Brighton with a positive result on Sunday.
The West London side have not played in European competition in their entire 134-year history.
