Around 200 Benfica fans at Seixal seek answers from Rui Costa | OneFootball

Around 200 Benfica supporters gathered outside the gates of the Seixal training centre on Saturday, 24 January, demanding to speak with Rui Costa or a member of the board amid frustration over this season.

Club officials allowed the group to enter in orderly fashion for a meeting, with security reinforced and police present as the first team trained in the morning. According to CMTV, a club representative will speak with the supporters.

There were no reports of incidents or clashes linked to the gathering at the time of writing. The demonstration comes during a delicate spell for the club.

Earlier in the week, Benfica lost 2-0 to Juventus in Turin, in a decisive match for their European ambitions.

Benfica are third in the Primeira Liga, 10 points behind leaders Porto. They have been eliminated from the League Cup in the semi-finals and the Portuguese Cup in the quarter-finals, and remain in a difficult position in the Champions League.
