Arrascaeta has rediscovered his spark for Flamengo, his resurgence coinciding with a new blond look after a difficult start to the year. The playmaker is again decisive and has entered the club’s all-time top 20 scorers.

According to Globo.com, the Uruguayan had faced criticism earlier this year, but recent weeks have brought a marked upturn. Since going blond he has helped deliver four wins in four, with three goals and one assist.

He was among the standouts against Independiente Medellín in the Libertadores, then starred versus Bahia in the Brasileiro. At the Maracanã on Sunday night he opened the scoring and tormented the Bahia defence.

He also struck the post and drew a fine stop from goalkeeper Léo Vieira. Withdrawn for De la Cruz on 78 minutes, he received a standing ovation.

Former coach Filipe Luís had said he was in prime form in 2025, the best campaign of his career, and these displays echo that version, with frequent runs into the box.

With his goal against Bahia he moved to 104 for Flamengo, passing Alfredinho on 103 and drawing level with Evaristo de Macedo in the top 20. His deal runs to the end of 2028, with a possible extra year if targets are met, leaving scope to climb further.
