Arrascaeta e Bruno Henrique stay decisive for Flamengo, seven years on | OneFootball

Arrascaeta e Bruno Henrique kept delivering as both scored in Flamengo’s 2-0 Libertadores win at Cusco, 3,350 metres up. According to Globo.com, seven years after first linking up, the pair are still deciding games.

Bruno Henrique arrived from Santos on 23 January 2019, shortly after Gabigol and Arrascaeta. The trio amassed goals and trophies, Gabigol left in 2024, and the other two stayed decisive. Since then Bruno Henrique has nine decisive involvements, Arrascaeta has 19.

For Bruno Henrique, highlights include the 2025 Supercopa win over Botafogo, 3-1, when he scored the first two, and the Club World Cup defeat of Chelsea, 3-1, with an equaliser and assist.

Arrascaeta’s list features two at Grêmio in a 2-0 league win, the assist for the 2025 Libertadores final winner against Palmeiras, 1-0, and a brace to beat Cruz Azul, 2-1, at the Club World Cup.

In 2025, their first year without Gabigol, Flamengo won four trophies, the Libertadores, Brasileiro, Supercopa and Carioca. The duo have 18 titles together, three Libertadores, three Brasileiros, two Copas do Brasil, three Supercopas, six Cariocas and one Recopa Sudamericana.

Arrascaeta emphasised the importance of an away win and the focus required at altitude. Bruno Henrique made his first start under Leonardo Jardim, his first since 15 February after a month and a half out with pubalgia. They host Independiente Medellín on Thursday at 21:30, after facing Fluminense on Saturday.
