Arrascaeta has undergone surgery on a fractured right clavicle, sustained in Flamengos 1-1 draw at Estudiantes in Argentina on Wednesday.

The one-hour procedure took place late on Thursday morning at a hospital in Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiros South Zone. The club said in a statement that the operation, which fixed the break with a plate and screws, was successful and that he will remain under observation, with discharge expected on Friday morning.

The initial estimate is a 45-day absence, although this is considered optimistic.

His return timeline will depend on how his rehabilitation progresses.

There is a risk the Uruguay international could miss the World Cup, scheduled for June and July in the United States.
