Santiago Gimenez arrived in the January mercato with the pressure of immediately hitting the ground running for AC Milan. However, this did not happen.
Signing a big money player in January always comes with risk, given they have no time to get used to their teammates or the league. It is the very definition of being thrown into the deep end in football. So, it is not really a surprise that Gimenez struggled.
In fact, much of the criticism of the move was more aimed above him, with many questioning why he was signed in January and given so much pressure, rather than joining in the 2024 summer mercato.
Since the move, it has emerged that the Mexican was struggling with injury initially, and now we are seeing better performances from the number nine and hopes still remain high for the future, but also the present moment.
Today, praise has arrived from Pippo Inzaghi when speaking to Cronache di Spogliatoio, who believes Gimenez has a bright future, as Milan News relay.
“Gimenez arrived with incredible pressure, he came with a high price tag: he immediately paid the price according to which in Italy, as soon as you know a match, first they praise you and then they trash you.

“Now it seems to me that a few benches have done him good, lately he has come on well: I have seen him lively and he has also scored some nice goals. I am the first Milan fan and I hope that as soon as possible we can find a centre forward who scores as many goals as in our era and who leads Milan to play the Champions League again, to win it, to win the Scudetto.
