Arruabarrena sets Boca transfer priorities and targets squad reset | OneFootball

Rodolfo Arruabarrena has returned to take charge of Boca and put a restructure of the squad and transfer strategy at the top of his agenda.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, his first match of this second spell is scheduled for Thursday 16 July against Sarmiento de Junín in the Copa Argentina round of 32. He won the competition in his first stint at the club. The one-off tie will demand full focus, with the winner due to meet Vélez Sarsfield.

He said the strength of the existing core was decisive in accepting the job, and while there will be departures and arrivals, he trusts the players already in place.

In his initial assessment he committed to lifting those who have struggled in recent months, and noted that competing on all fronts requires added quality and depth. He plans targeted signings in key areas to provide a step up.

On profiles, he prioritises personality over age or prior experience, adding that he is not seeking extremes in age, and he feels there is already character within the group.
