Arsenal have made Piero Hincapié their first summer signing by activating a purchase option. According to L'Équipe, the Ecuador defender is said to have signed a five-year deal to 2031, with the fee around €40m.
He will be officially an Arsenal player on one July. The 24-year-old is currently at the World Cup.
Hincapié played a central part in ending Arsenal's 22-year wait for the league title. The left-back made 39 appearances in all competitions, including 10 in the Champions League, growing in influence as the season progressed and benefiting from injuries to Riccardo Calafiori.
He spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Arsenal from Leverkusen. The Ecuador international has 54 caps and two goals.
Hincapié joined Leverkusen in 2021 and was part of Xabi Alonso's unbeaten title winners in 2024. He now leaves the Bundesliga club for north London.
