In a recent report, Sky Sports mentioned that Arsenal are in the running for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton this summer. It has been stated that the Gunners have identified the English talent as a target for this summer transfer window.
Wharton had a solid campaign at the London club in the previous campaign when he put in a string of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The English midfield ace featured in 53 matches for the Eagles last season, scoring one goal and securing seven assists on all fronts.
The 22-year-old is currently among the most talented central midfielders in the Premier League. Hence, it is no surprise that the Gunners are showing interest in recruiting him this off-season.
His current contract at Selhurst Park will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, Arsenal would have to launch a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him later this year.

Wharton is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer as well.
The English sensation can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to create some decent chances for his teammates in the final third. Wharton is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder or play in the number ten position if required. He has got some valuable experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Arsenal.
We can expect Wharton to bring more bite and steel to Mikel Arteta’s midfield department. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at the North London club next season.
At 22, Wharton has got a very promising future ahead of him and would be a great choice for the Gunners to consider before the end of this transfer window. He will also help the London giants challenge for some major honours over the next decade. Thus, Arteta would be wise to get a deal over the line for him this off-season.
