Bayern Munich have taken steps to sign Eintracht Frankfurt full-back Nathaniel Brown in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing the German full-back, with the Gunners looking to add depth to their squad.
While the German champions are yet to submit a formal bid, they have now made an approach with the player’s camp over a potential move.
The 22-year-old has been brilliant for Frankfurt over the past two seasons and has established himself as a key player for the club.
Brown has made over 70 appearances for Frankfurt, and 33 appearances in the Bundesliga in 2025-26, starting in 29 of them, registering four goals and four assists.
As a result of his impressive form, Brown has earned a place in Julian Nagelsmann’s World Cup squad, and could be on the move in the summer window.
Christian Falk reported earlier this week that while Bayern like his profile his price tag could be too expensive for them.
The Bild journalist has now confirmed to CFBayern Insider that Bayern have made an inquiry to Frankfurt for Nathaniel Brown.
The German defender wants to move to Munich, but no agreement has been reached between the clubs yet. Eintracht’s asking price is €60m [£51m] to €65m [£56m].
Brown is a versatile defender who is predominantly a left-back, but can also play as a left midfielder and also on the right if needed.
Arsenal could be interested in such a profile as Mikel Arteta loves having players in the side who can perform multiple roles.
The interesting question here is – do Arsenal really need a new full-back?
Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapie, and Myles Lewis-Skelly can play as left-back, while Jurrien Timber and Ben White can play as right-back.
Bayern, on the other hand, need a versatile full-back, especially with Alphonso Davies struggling with injuries in the last 18 months.
The price tag could be a big problem for the German champions, as they may find the amount a big too high.
Arsenal have the financial power to sign Brown, but Bayern may not to lose another player in the market after Anthony Gordon, who moved to Barcelona.
What would work in Bayern’s favour is that the defender apparently wants to move to Munich, which could be a decisive factor.
