Arsenal complete the signing of Illan Meslier | OneFootball

Arsenal have completed the signing of former Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

The French shot-stopper first made the move to English football by joining Leeds on an initial loan move from Lorient before that deal was made permanent.

Meslier went on to make 215 appearances for the Whites but lost his place in the side towards the end of the 2024/25 campaign  and did not feature at all in last season.

"I’m extremely happy," Meslier said on joining the goalkeeping setup at Arsenal. 

"It's a great day for me because I have just joined the champions. For me, Arsenal is the biggest club in England.

"I'm very happy and very proud to join Arsenal. I cannot wait to show the love that I've got for this badge, and I cannot wait to win trophies with this team, because this is a club that needs to lift trophies again and again."

The 26-year-old is likely to act as the third-choice goalkeeper for Mikel Arteta behind number one David Raya and backup Kepa Arrizabalaga.
