Kai Havertz did not take part in Arsenal’s team training session ahead of their Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid.

The forward was taken off during Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday after suffering another injury.

It has been a frustrating season for the Germany international, who missed half of the campaign with a knee injury and has since suffered several setbacks.

His absence from training does not necessarily mean he will miss the first leg against Atletico Madrid, however, with boss Mikel Arteta set to provide a team news update in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday evening.

There was also no sign of Jurrien Timber again in training, who has been out since early April with an ankle problem.

But in a boost for Arsenal, Ebere Eze was involved in the session having also been forced off with an injury worry against Newcastle.

Speaking about Eze and Havertz’s injuries after the Newcastle game, Arteta said: “They are muscular niggles.

“We don’t think it’s too much but we have to wait and see whether they’re going to be available for Wednesday.”

Riccardo Calafiori also took part having missed out against Newcastle.
