Arsenal given boost after top target ends contract talks

Bradley Barcola has ended talks over a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain this summer, providing Arsenal with a potential boost in their pursuit of the attacker.

The Gunners have been tracking the Frenchman for some time and, after missing out on Morgan Rogers to Chelsea, they are determined to beat Liverpool in the race for Barcola. Both clubs are believed to regard him as one of the standout attacking talents available during the current transfer window.

According to Metro Sport, Barcola has decided to end contract negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain after the two sides failed to reach an agreement. The report states that he has informed the club of his desire to leave.

Arsenal and Liverpool in pursuit

Liverpool view Barcola as a player capable of replacing Mohamed Salah, and many believe they are currently leading the race for his signature. Arsenal, however, remain firmly in the running and are expected to continue their efforts to persuade the Frenchman to choose the Emirates Stadium.

One of the biggest obstacles for both clubs has been Paris Saint-Germain’s reluctance to sell the attacker during this transfer window. The French champions have consistently maintained that they want him to remain at the club for at least one more season despite growing interest in his services.

Contract situation offers hope

Barcola still has two years remaining on his current contract at the Parc des Princes, and the club have spent the past year attempting to negotiate an extension. However, those discussions have now come to an end without an agreement being reached, increasing speculation over his future.

The attacker is reportedly seeking a move because he is not receiving enough playing time and finds himself behind the regular starters in the pecking order. Liverpool are expected to provide strong competition if Paris Saint-Germain eventually decide to allow him to leave. Arsenal will therefore have to battle their Premier League rivals if they hope to secure the signing of one of their leading transfer targets before the window closes.
