Contract talks between Arsenal and Ethan Nwaneri are reportedly at a “delicate stage”, with “no agreement” over a new deal yet to be made.

The 18-year-old’s current terms expire in 2026, meaning the Gunners could lose one of their most promising young talents for nothing next summer.

Nwaneri penned his first professional contract, a two-year deal, when he turned 17 in 2024. FA rules dictate that players under the age of 18 cannot sign a contract longer than three years.

Arsenal contract talks with Nwaneri at ‘delicate stage’

The right winger “wants to stay” at the club, but there is “strong interest” in him from clubs in the Premier League and abroad, The Athletic reports.

Arsenal “do not want to sell” Nwaneri and want the situation taken care of “swiftly”. With the U21 Euros, which England won, now over, negotiations “may soon accelerate”.

After tying down Gabriel and Myles Lewis-Skelly to new terms, the report adds there is optimism that a renewal will be agreed. Otherwise Nwaneri will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs from January 2026.

The youngster enjoyed a breakout year with the north London outfit last season, stepping in admirably as injury cover for Bukayo Saka. He made 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals.

Noni Madueke ‘open’ to Arsenal transfer

Meanwhile, Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Chelsea’s Noni Madueke, who plays the same position as Nwaneri. Fabrizio Romano claims the England international is open to a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer. The Blues are reportedly willing to listen to offers.

Signing Madueke would create a major selection headache for Mikel Arteta as he would have three first-team wingers who all prefer to play on the right.
