Marcus Rashford could be on the move this summer. The English attacker has struggled to maintain a consistent role under the new Manchester United regime. His loan switch to Aston Villa in January raised plenty of eyebrows. But now, Arsenal icon Ian Wright has backed him for a permanent move to St James’ Park.

Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan during the winter transfer window after falling out with manager Ruben Amorim. Since then, he has rediscovered his form. He scored 4 goals and providing 6 assists in 17 appearances for Villa.

However, Rashford’s long-term future remains uncertain. Villa have a £40 million option to buy him permanently, but the player is said to prefer a club offering Champions League football.

Newcastle transfer news: Ian Wright tips Marcus Rashford for Newcastle move

According to the latest Newcastle transfer news from the Ringer FC podcast, as reported by GOAL, Ian Wright has tipped Marcus Rashford to move to Newcastle United if he leaves Manchester United this summer. Wright said on the Ringer FC podcast, as reported by GOAL;

"It’s the kind of signing Newcastle should be making. That would be amazing. That would be dangerous. Rashford at Newcastle? Yeah. That would be really good. I really like that for Rashford. Rashford at Newcastle can be dangerous."

Newcastle are set to qualify for Champions League football again this season. Eddie Howe is looking to bolster his attacking options. Rashford would offer much-needed depth for the frontline of the Magpies.

In this summer transfer window, Manchester United are looking to sell Marcus Rashford. He is earning £365,000 per week. Also he has three years left on his current Manchester United deal. So, United need to ease their wage bill to sign new players.

Villa could make the move permanent. But with Newcastle poised to offer Champions League football, Rashford may find St James’ Park a more appealing destination.

Adding Rashford to their ranks would be a huge statement by Newcastle. A frontline of Alexander Isak and Marcus Rashford could help Eddie Howe’s side take another giant leap in the Premier League.
