On Saturday, former Gunner Danny Welbeck scored twice against Chelsea, his goals sealing a 3-1 win that lifted Brighton’s men to ninth and left Chelsea, touted by some as title challengers at the start of the season, ahead of the Seagulls on goal difference with eight points from six games, just one more than Man United.

Twenty-four hours later, Brighton’s women beat Everton 1-0, thanks to their Arsenal loanees.

In the 26th minute, Michelle Agyemang scored her first WSL goal of the season, created by fellow loanee Rosa Kafaji.

The move began with Fran Kirby’s press and cross from the right, which Kafaji met at the back post and redirected into the six-yard box.

Agyemang was quickest to react, chesting the ball down and finishing past Emily Ramsey.

Agyemang, 19, was relentless throughout, winning a match-high 10 duels, holding the ball up well and running channels that stretched Everton’s defence.

Kafaji’s awareness in the build-up and her direct dribbling from the left also gave Brighton an edge in what was a tight contest.

With Dario Vidosic keeping faith with the same XI that had beaten West Ham, the Arsenal pair again showed why they have become central to Brighton’s attacking threat.

Their win moved the team to sixth, marking back-to-back league victories.
