Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of completing a move for Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes.
According to The Athletic, the Gunners and Newcastle are nearing a total agreement for the transfer of Guimaraes.
The Brazilian has two years left on his contract at St James’ Park, but he has already made it clear he wants to join Arsenal.
Arsenal initially expressed a willingness to pay a fee up to £60m, which was turned down by Newcastle.
The Magpies had maintained they wouldn’t be entertaining offers for their captain, but their stance has changed.
There is now a desire among all parties to bring the transfer saga to a successful conclusion.
Guimaraes is awaiting permission to undergo a medical and complete a move to the Emirates Stadium.
The 28-year-old has been Newcastle’s most valuable player in recent years. He has made 195 appearances across all competitions, bagging 31 goals and 32 assists.
The talented midfielder played a key role in their League Cup triumph in 2024-25, which ended the club’s 70-year wait for a domestic trophy.
Guimaraes was part of the Brazil squad at the World Cup, starting every game before Norway eliminated them in the round of 16.
Newcastle have already sold Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali to Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur, respectively. They are now set to lose their captain.
