Arsenal are considering sending defender Takehiro Tomiyasu for another operation following an injury setback, according to the Daily Mail.
The Japan international has played just once this term, coming off the bench against Southampton last October after returning from a long-term knee injury.
The Gunners star missed the start of the season as a result of an operation and could now go under the knife again after persistent problems with the same knee.
Arsenal doctors are considering sending Tomiyasu for surgery again, which would require a lengthy rehabilitation programme and rule him out for a significant period.
He had an operation on the knee last year, spending three months out of action, and he could miss the rest of the season if a second operation takes place.
The 26-year-old played 30 games across all competitions last year and was involved in 31 games in 2022-23.
The former Bologna star has been unavailable for 580 days due to injuries since joining Arsenal, with calf and knee problems preventing him from being regularly available.
Tomiyasu is one of the few defenders who can play in every position at the back, but Arsenal will not be able to call upon him this season from the look of things.
Undergoing another knee injury could be the best solution for the Japanese as he looks to finally get over his frequent problems.
