Arsenal submit €10m bid for Girona right-back Arnau Martinez | OneFootball

Arsenal FC have submitted a €10m bid to sign Girona FC right-back Arnau Martinez (22), according to a report from Foot Mercato. The Gunners’ bid is reportedly composed of a €8m transfer fee with a further €2m in performance-related add-ons. The 22-year-old Girona FC youth graduate featured 39 times for the City Football Group-owned Catalunya side last season. He logged three goals and as many assists.

The Gunners need defensive cover in the right-back position after parting ways with Takehiro Tomiyasu. Martinez’s versatility could also be of use for Mikel Arteta. The former Spain youth international can also fill in as a centre-back. His Girona contract expires in two years. Should Arsenal get their man, Martinez would be the Gunners’ eighth signing of the summer.
