Arsenal submit contract renewal bid to William Saliba | OneFootball

Arsenal have made their move and offered France international centre-back William Saliba (24) a contract renewal, as reported by Foot Mercato. The 24-year-old is currently tied with the Gunners over a contract set to expire in 2027, but the Premier League runners-up have no intention of allowing Saliba to enter the final months of his contract next summer.

Saliba is currently unavailable for selection after picking up an ankle injury during the warm-up to the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Arsenal. The France international is expected to miss a couple of weeks of action. Foot Mercato adds that Saliba is greatly valued by head coach Mikel Arteta and the club’s executives.

Furthermore, for a couple of weeks now, Arsenal have initiated talks of a contract renewal with the Saint-Etienne Academy graduate. The outlet understands that the Gunners have submitted a five-year contract renewal to Saliba, which would effectively tie the centre-back for the long term, until 2030. Talks are reportedly underway between all parties. Arsenal would be keen for a quick resolution, given major European clubs are monitoring Saliba’s situation, including Real Madrid.
