Arsenal have reached the Champions League quarter-finals after defeating Bayer Leverkusen. The dominant Gunners won Tuesday night’s home last-16 second-leg tie 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium to follow a last-gasp 1-1 draw in Germany last week, completing a 3-1 aggregate victory thanks to brilliant goals - one in each half - from England duo Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice.
It means that Mikel Arteta’s confident side remain in contention for a potential major trophy quadruple this season, with a nine-point lead now in the Premier League title race, FA Cup quarter-final against Southampton coming up and the small matter of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final showdown against rivals Manchester City at Wembley.
It will be Sporting next for Arsenal in Europe, with the Portuguese giants having produced a stunning 5-0 rout of Norway’s Bodo/Glimt in Lisbon to overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit in style. An early return to his former club beckons for summer signing Viktor Gyokeres next month. Follow Arsenal vs Bayer Leverkusen live below!
