Manchester City travel to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon for yet another crunch meeting for the club in the English top-flight in their top-four pursuit.

Pep Guardiola and his players have seen their form recovering after a serious slump across November and December, recording crucial victories against the likes of Chelsea in the Premier League and Club Brugge in European competition.

That rise in performance standards has also coincided with the likes of Phil Foden finding their own individual form once more, and other players stepping up alongside an influx of new talent arriving via the transfer market.

Last time out saw Manchester City secure a place in the Champions League’s play-off positions for the last-16 of the competition, where they are now set to face off against Real Madrid in a two-legged affair within the next two weeks.

As for Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side, they came from behind in Spain to record a 1-2 away win over City Football Group’s Girona to secure a hugely impressive third-placed finish in the UEFA Champions League table.

But as both sides gear up to face off in what is expected to be another hotly-contested Premier League affair, here is everything you need to know ahead of the encounter at the Emirates Stadium!

Team News

Mikel Arteta is expected to be without four first-team players for the visit of Manchester City, while goalkeeper David Raya remains subject to a late assessment over his availability in the contest.

Gabriel Jesus is not expected to make a return to action until the end of the year after sustaining damage to his ACL in the left knee, while Bukayo Saka has a preliminary return date from a thigh problem in early April.

The other two absentees for Arsenal are expected to be Ben White (knee) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee).

As for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola is likely to compete with the same first-team squad that was deemed available for selection against Chelsea last weekend, while his three new signings return to eligibility after absences in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.

That will leave the central defensive pairing of Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake being ruled out through injury, alongside Jeremy Doku and the long-term absentee in Rodri, while Oscar Bobb could return to the matchday squad after a five-month absence.

Head To Head

Arsenal and Manchester City have met on a total of 212 occassions, with the latter sitting on 99 defeats to the Gunners, having emerged on level terms in matches 48 times and winning 65 of such games.

Manchester City’s last visit to the Emirates Stadium resulted in a late defeat as Gabriel Martinelli’s 86th-minute deflected-winner grabbed all three points for Arsenal en route to claiming a second-placed finish to Pep Guardiola’s eventual league champions.

As for the last meeting between the two clubs, Erling Haaland’s early opener at the Etihad Stadium in September was cancelled out by Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes, before John Stones grabbed a late equaliser to earn a point in a game marred by Rodri’s injury.
