Arsenal vs Tottenham team news

Arsenal are really going through it with their injury crisis this season after losing Gabriel Jesus in their FA Cup exit against Manchester United on Sunday.

Jesus was stretchered off clutching his knee and Arteta admitted the injury was a “big worry” after already losing Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri amid his dwindling numbers up front.

Leandro Trossard might have to come into the team as a result, while in defence Riccardo Calafiori could miss out at left-back once again after missing the game against Man United, suffering from a muscle complaint. He wasn’t in the squad at all and is unlikely to face Tottenham.

Myles Lewis-Skelly has been deputising at left-back and is set to feature once again. In midfield, we could see Declan Rice return to the starting XI after starting on the bench against United.

Tottenham are struggling with their own injury crisis that has seen them be forced to play a makeshift centre-back pairing of Radu Dragusin and 18-year-old midfielder Archie Gray, with the pair set to feature again against Arsenal after playing the last nine games in a row.

Spurs have a lengthy injury list that includes a total of nine players unavailable, with Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero, Mickey van de Ven, Ben Davies and Wilson Odobert still set to be out for a long spell.

Richarlison is back in training and should be able to make his comeback soon. But this game could come too soon for Rodrigo Bentancur after his head injury against Liverpool last week.

For the Arsenal clash, Djed Spence should come in at left-back for Sergio Reguilon after Postecoglou made five changes for the 0-3 win over non-league Tamworth in the FA Cup.

Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke, Son Heung-min and EFL Cup hero Lucas Bergvall could all be re-introduced against Arsenal after being benched against Tamworth.

London rivals struggling ahead of derby clash

Both teams are hurting coming into this huge game, with the two teams bruised by injuries and poor form. Arsenal have now gone three games without a win in all competitions, the second time that’s happened after a sticky patch in November.

Their poor results have coincided with losing a string of key players, including Saka to a hamstring blow, while being without defenders Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu has also been a big setback.

Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard also missed a chunk of the season and the fact Arsenal are still six points behind league leaders Liverpool should be seen as a huge positive ahead of this game — which they cannot afford to lose if they are to stay in the race.

Tottenham, on the other hand, come into this off the back of two wins in the cup – but their league form has been abysmal. Before beating Tamworth and Liverpool, Postecoglou’s team had won once in five league games and their lowly position of 12th sums up their turbulent season, with Spurs lacking consistency without a string of first team players.

A top four finish looks unlikely for Tottenham, who may look to prioritise the cups instead. But they’ll be eager to get the bragging rights over their arch nemesis this week.
