Arsenal 18-year-old Will Sweet recently celebrated signing a new contract with the club, putting pen to paper on his first professional deal in early July.
But just days after the announcement of that new contract, Sweet was handed a punishment by The FA.
The defender was initially charged for an incident back in February, at the end of the FA Youth Cup clash with Manchester United. He’s now finally received his punishment, earning a £500 fine and a two-match ban.

Sweet had been sent off in the 117th minute of the match, and it was alleged he then acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards the referee at the end of the game.
It was also alleged that he used abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official.
Sweet admitted the charge, so the subsequent paper hearing simply determined the punishment.

Though Sweet was charged by the FA for an incident in that u18 match, by the end of the season he was an u21 regular. The teenager started nine of the Gunners’ final 10 Premier League 2 fixtures in 2024/25.
Despite playing at centre-back, the youngster even scored two goals and assisted another in those last 10 games.
The fine and ban are a minor setback in the grand scheme of things, and Sweet will be looking to push on again in 2025/26.
