Mikel Arteta has suggested that Leandro Trossard may be available on Sunday to face Chelsea.
The Arsenal manager has suggested that there’s “a potential chance” Trossard could make a return on the weekend.
The Belgian came off in midweek during Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Bayern Munich, but Arsenal boss Arteta has said: “It doesn’t look like much.
“With Leo, there is another test, we’ll have to see how he’s feeling, and it doesn’t look like much, and we’ll have to wait and see.”
The manager also delivered updates on injured strikers Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres.
After welcoming Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Noni Madueke back from injury during the week, he confirmed Jesus was involved in a behind-closed-doors game on Thursday, as the Brazilian returns to match fitness following a knee injury back sustained in January.
“Yeah it did happen. Gabi [Gabriel Jesus], Ethan [Nwaneri] as well wanted some minutes, so we took the opportunity for players who wanted exposure. It was very positive,” he said.
“Obviously, he’s been out 11 months, and you need that progression. You need to see how his body reacts and what else does he need,” he added. “It’s a good thing he’s very, very close at the moment.”
As for Havertz and Gyokeres, the Spaniard was coy as usual, saying only: “We have another day tomorrow so let’s see how everyone is tomorrow.”
Asked about the timeline for missing defender Gabriel, Arteta said that he was “evolving really, really well”, but that they were still waiting to determine precise timings.
“I think he’s evolving really, really well. We have to wait for that scan a little bit longer to be more precise in terms of the timings.”
“But I’m quite confident that, especially the way Gabi takes every injury and the way he’s going to push everybody, that it’s not going to be that long,” he added.
