Arthur Melo finally set to end nightmare Juventus spell | OneFootball

Arthur Melo was a part of one of the worst transfer deals in football history when he traded Barcelona for Juventus in 2020, with Miralem Pjanic going the other way. Since then he has played less than 70 times for the Bianconeri in the 5 year span, instead going on unsuccessful loan spells to Girona, Fiorentina and Liverpool. Now, as per O Globo (via TMW), he looks set to join Real Betis in La Liga. This will be his third spell in Spain after having played for Catalan clubs Girona and Barcelona. The Andalusian club see him as their replacement to Johnny Cardoso in central midfield, after the American left earlier this month to head to Atletico Madrid. While from a Betis perspective, this might not be the most exciting transfer, it is key to remember that Arthur was once seen as one of the promising midfield talents in Europe.
