Arthur will leave Grêmio when his Juventus loan ends on 30 June after salary talks collapsed, despite both sides wanting him to stay.

The club said in a statement that there was no financial agreement. Grêmio offered about R$ 1.5 million, the same as his current terms, on a deal to December 2028. Arthur wanted around R$ 2.5 million and three years.

He sought to leave Juventus at no cost to Grêmio and was prepared to forgo R$ 4 million a month due until June 2027, which underpinned his stance on pay and term.

Re-signed in August 2025, the academy product made 36 appearances and scored once in his second spell, having starred in the 2017 Libertadores win.

Talks with Juventus did not progress and the Italians at one stage asked for defender Viery to be included. Arthur now returns to Juventus after 30 June, and they have not confirmed whether he will be used.

Fluminense made an enquiry, while Corinthians and Cruzeiro have been mentioned in the background as possible admirers in Brazil.

Grêmio posted a first-quarter deficit of R$ 124 million, with early-year contract terminations booking a negative R$ 45 million. Player costs were a little over R$ 30 million per month.

The finance committee urged a shift in transfer policy and, if possible, no signings in the next window. Even so, football staff are targeting a right-back and a midfielder.

To replace Arthur, coaches are set to look to Leo Pérez and Juan Nardoni, both signed this year. Villasanti returned before the calendar pause and, although yet to feature under Luís Castro, is viewed as a second-half reinforcement after a serious 2025 injury ruled him out of the World Cup.
