AS Monaco have expressed interest in signing Marc-Andre ter Stegen, as the Ligue 1 club nears completion of the loan deal for Ansu Fati, reports Mundo Deportivo.
The recent contact between the two clubs included discussions regarding the German goalkeeper, although Ter Stegen remains resistant to leaving Camp Nou.
With Joan Garcia already signed and Wojciech Szczesny finalising the paperwork for his contract renewal, Ter Stegen’s future at Barcelona is increasingly uncertain.
Barcelona are eager to part ways with the 33-year-old veteran as getting rid of his big wages will be a major boost on the Fair Play front.
However, the former Borussia Monchengladbach ace remains reluctant to leave and has insisted time and again that he wants to stay.

Despite that, he continues to attract interest and offers from several clubs, the latest being AS Monaco.
Monaco are seeking greater stability in goal following an inconsistent season and have been actively exploring options. Their sporting department has been monitoring both Andre Onana (Manchester United) and Ter Stegen for some time.
During discussions over Ansu Fati’s loan, the two clubs explored various scenarios regarding a potential deal for Ter Stegen, whether through a loan or permanent transfer. Negotiations between the clubs are not expected to be difficult.
The French club has already contacted Ter Stegen’s representatives to explore the possibility of a transfer. For now, the German international has rejected the idea, as he prefers to remain at Barcelona.
However, Monaco remain a possible future option given its participation in the UEFA Champions League.
