Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid has been a topic of much debate this season after the team has not performed to its full potential during the ongoing season.
The 65-year-old has a contract with Los Blancos until the summer of 2026 but the possibility of him leaving at the end of the ongoing season is not ruled out.
In fact, it is believed that Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is all set to take over from the Italian tactician later this year.
Amidst all this, AS reports that Italian giants AS Roma are intent on naming Carlo Ancelotti as their next manager in the summer.
After a challenging season, with three different coaches (Daniele De Rossi, Ivan Juric, and Claudio Ranieri) and far from the race for Champions League spots in Serie A, Roma are looking for a bold move to revitalise their project for the next campaign.
As they did in 2021 with Jose Mourinho, the Giallorossi are seeking a high-profile coach to spearhead their ambitions and the chosen target is Ancelotti. The club owners, the Friedkin family, is making direct efforts to persuade the Real Madrid boss.

The proposal is ambitious in every sense, both financially and sportingly, representing a full commitment to establishing the team at the top of European football. And there is no one better than Ancelotti, according to the club, to achieve this.
Roma are confident they can appeal to Ancelotti by highlighting his strong bond with the club, where he excelled as a player between 1979 and 1987, playing 227 matches, scoring 17 goals, and winning four Coppa Italia trophies and a legendary Scudetto.
Ancelotti has never hidden his affection for Roma or the city, stating on multiple occasions, “One day, I would love to manage them.”
In December, he left the door slightly ajar, although making it clear that his priority remains Madrid, saying:
“There is a lot of talk about it, but I am happy here and working to stay as long as possible. Ranieri is a friend, and he is doing a great job; I am happy.
“I have a strong relationship with Roma and very good memories, but there is a big difference between what is said and what is done.
“For now, I am happy here, and I am not thinking about my future. I still have two years left on my contract, but contracts can be broken or extended.”
Roma have initiated contact and will continue to pursue the opportunity, aware that their chances depend on whether Florentino Perez decides to part ways with Ancelotti before the end of his contract.
There is still a long season ahead, and everything will depend on results. But Roma are clear about their dream – to bring Ancelotti back to the Stadio Olimpico.
