AS Roma team news

Paulo Dybala remains unavailable with an injury in his left thigh, sustained during the defeat to AC Milan, and is expected to be out for approximately three weeks.

Striker Evan Ferguson has been called up by the Republic of Ireland despite his sprained ankle suffered against Parma. He has only recently resumed running on the pitch.

Spanish wing-back Angeliño is also unavailable, training separately from the main group. Midfielder Nicolò Bove also remains sidelined with illness, further depleting Roma’s options in midfield.

However, Matías Soulé has a point to prove after being excluded from Argentina’s latest squad, despite his impressive performances for Roma this season with four goals and two assists in 14 appearances across all competitions.

Additionally, Gian Piero Gasperini has been named Serie A Coach of the Month for October following Roma’s excellent form, during which they collected three wins against Fiorentina, Sassuolo, and Parma.

Udinese team news

Coach Kosta Runjaic’s side arrives in the capital with limited injury concerns. Former Roma player Nicolò Zaniolo is available after an impressive sequence of performances. Zaniolo scored in his last match against Atalanta with four shots and creating one chance in the 1-0 victory.

The 26-year-old has been involved in seven straight matches, accumulating 19 shots (seven on target) and posting seven key passes in that span.

Striker Keinan Davis is a significant doubt after a thigh injury but has been resuming training and “is feeling better,” according to Runjaic, though the coach suggested “he can probably play at most 30 minutes Sunday.” Thomas Kristensen remains sidelined with a thigh problem and has yet to return to full training.

Polish striker Adam Buksa, signed from FC Midtjylland on a contract until June 2029, will vie with Vakoun Bayo to lead Udinese’s front line in the absence of Davis. Buksa arrives at the club following a successful spell in Denmark where he scored 17 goals in 45 appearances.

Form

AS Roma

Gasperini’s side has shown marked improvement under their new manager, securing an impressive 2-0 victory away at Glasgow Rangers in midweek to progress in the Europa League.

Roma had been experiencing difficulties in attack with Pellegrini confirming “there is an expectation that Gasperini develops some attacking fluency” despite the injury setbacks. They currently sit fourth in Serie A with 21 points from 10 matches, just one point behind current table toppers Napoli.

Udinese

Runjaic’s side has shown they can compete with top-level opponents, demonstrating resilience in defence despite their attacking departures during the summer transfer window. Udinese sit ninth in Serie A with 15 points from 10 matches, improving steadily throughout the season with recent victories highlighting their quality. They defeated Inter Milan in an early-season encounter and recently beat Atalanta (1-0).

Predicted lineups

AS Roma: Svilar; Hermoso, Mancini, Ndicka; Celik, Kone, Cristante, Wesley; Soule, Pellegrini; Dovbyk.

Udinese: Okoye; Goglichidze, Kabasele, Solet; Zanoli, Ekkelenkamp, Karlstrom, Atta, Kamara; Zaniolo, Buksa.
