Asamoah Gyan responds to rumors about Osimhen's injury
Former Ghana Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has stepped forward to address a swirling rumor involving himself and Victor Osimhen.
Several media outlets had reported that Gyan accused Nigerian striker Osimhen of faking an injury during the Nigeria vs. Rwanda World Cup 2026 qualifier on September 6. Gyan was quick to respond, vehemently denying these claims. Taking to his social media, Ghana’s all-time top scorer wrote: "THIS NEWS IS FAKE MY BROTHER," making it clear the story was completely fabricated.
For context, Osimhen—now at Galatasaray—left the pitch in the first half after a collision with Rwandan defender Claude Niyomugabo. He was replaced by Cyril Dessers and missed the following match against South Africa. By issuing this denial, Asamoah Gyan aimed to put an end to the rumors and reaffirm that he has never questioned Victor Osimhen's professionalism.
