According to L'Équipe, Ashley Cole is expected to take his first head coach role at Cesena in Serie B.

The former England international, a renowned full-back with Arsenal and Chelsea, retired in 2019 and has only worked as an assistant so far.

He is said to have responded positively to an approach from Cesena, currently eighth in the division, with a swift appointment anticipated.

The Emilia-Romagna club last featured in Serie A in 2014-2015, finishing 19th.

In the hunt for promotion via the play-offs, the Bianconeri have stalled, their last seven matches yielding four defeats and three draws.

Head coach Michele Mignani was dismissed on Saturday. Cole’s arrival now appears imminent.
