Assane Diao ruled out of Africa Cup of Nations with right thigh injury | OneFootball

Assane Diao has been ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts on Sunday in Morocco, because of a right thigh injury.

The Senegalese federation announced on Saturday that the Como left winger will not feature, with the tournament running from 21 December to 18 January.

He sustained the problem during Como’s 1-0 defeat to AS Roma on 15 December in Serie A’s matchday 15.

Diao was substituted in the 37th minute, prompting concern among Senegal supporters. Subsequent medical tests confirmed a biceps femoris lesion in his right thigh.

The 20-year-old has two caps for the Lions of Teranga.
