AS Saint-Étienne endured another underwhelming 2025-26, their match ratings underscoring a failed push for Ligue 1. According to Le Progres, misfiring leaders, misjudged summer recruits and the emergence of academy talents, with Pedro a revelation, defined the campaign.
Captain Gautier Larsonneur embodied the slide, finishing with an average rating of 5.2 after a second straight subdued year. That compared with 5.8 during the 2024 promotion.
His save percentage fell to 67 per cent, the 21st in Ligue 2, down from 81.5 per cent in 2024.
He was not alone. Centre-back Mickaël Nadé, a starter for almost the entire season, also felt the dips, ending on 4.9.
The picture points to senior figures falling short and a reliance on youth to plug gaps. The academy offered some relief, yet the hoped-for return to Ligue 1 did not arrive.
