Aston Villa are considering a move for Roma attacker Matias Soule as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his forward line this summer.

ExpressAndStar.com reports that Villa have been linked with the 23-year-old Argentinian, who is valued at around £30 million, and that talks are claimed to have taken place between the clubs.

Soule has made more than 80 appearances for Roma since joining from Juventus three years ago, and scored 17 times in 42 outings last season.

Villa also hold an interest in Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes and have looked closely at Wales international Harry Wilson, who is due to become a free agent this summer.

Emery is prioritising a defender who can play as a right-sided centre-back or at right-back, with Celta Vigo’s Oscar Mingueza, out of contract this summer, among the targets. The 27-year-old came through Barcelona’s academy and is also attracting interest from Newcastle.

Villa will also look to move out players deemed surplus to requirements, with right-back Andres Garcia a target for Valencia. Garcia has struggled to make an impact since arriving from Levante 18 months ago and managed only eight appearances this season because of persistent injuries.
