Aston Villa want to sign Manchester City attacker Omar Marmoush in the summer transfer window, according to The Times.

Manager Unai Emery wanted the Egyptian at Villa Park in a loan move during the winter transfer window before moving for Tammy Abraham.

The Villans have retained an interest in Marmoush and could lure him to the Midlands with the promise of regular playing opportunities.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola has dubbed the 27-year-old a ‘special player‘, but he has started only seven Premier League games this season.

The Villa target has tallied one goal and three assists in 17 league appearances this term, but netted seven goals in 16 league games last season after joining midway through the campaign.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt star plays as a striker, a left winger and behind the striker.

His versatility would be useful for Villa as they prepare for Champions League football again next season.

The Egyptian’s major strengths include key passes, dribbling, finishing, set-piece taking, long shots and direct free-kicks.

Marmoush did not feature in the last three games for Man City and will be desperate to join a club where he can feature regularly.

The Villans could be willing to offer him that and he is expected to be available for slightly below the £59 million City spent on him a little over a year ago.

Emery needs reinforcements in attack, with Jadon Sancho leaving at the end of his loan spell. Abraham and Leon Bailey have also failed to live up to expectations.

Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins have been linked with potential exits, and adding Marmoush to the squad would be a solid move.
