Aston Villa handed Joao Palhinha boost as Bayern ‘to move on’ midfielder | OneFootball

Aston Villa have been handed a boost, with Bayern Munich planning to move on Joao Palhinha this summer.

The former Fulham midfielder spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur and has been linked with a switch to Villa Park.

"They’re training with us, but they won’t play an important role here. I know they’re aware of that," said Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund, in comments reported by Abendzeitung.

"They’re both good players. They’ll continue to train and play here for now, but the plan is for them to take the next step somewhere else."

Palhinha also featured in a friendly against Wehen Wiesbaden. He and full-back Sacha Boey are not set to play a significant role under Vincent Kompany.
