Leon Bailey’s proposed move from Aston Villa to Hull remains in the balance, with no agreement yet between the clubs, ExpressAndStar.com reports.
Hull owner Acun Ilicali had suggested a deal was close after weeks of talks, but negotiations have since stalled.
Bailey stayed in the UK rather than join Villa’s Far East tour to sort out his future, which is still unresolved. The outcome for the Jamaica international will shape the rest of Villa’s window, with Unai Emery keen to add another winger if he leaves.
Villa have signed Alejandro Garnacho on loan from Chelsea, and Emery still wants further attacking options. Evann Guessand has been handed a chance in pre-season, while the club are scouting strikers and are willing to consider offers for Tammy Abraham, six months after he joined permanently from Besiktas.
Strengthening at full-back is also on the agenda, with Villa frustrated in their pursuit of AC Milan’s Pervis Estupinan. New head coach Ruben Amorim wants to assess the Brazilian left-back during pre-season after the clubs were close to an agreement.
Villa remain hopeful of reviving that move later this month. Lucas Digne is expected to formally complete a switch to Paris Saint-Germain when he returns from a post-World Cup break next week.
The club’s other World Cup players, including record signing Johan Manzambi, are due at Bodymoor Heath before the European Super Cup against PSG on August 12.
Villa play the second match of their Far East tour against Thailand side Pathum United in Bangkok on Tuesday at 1.30pm UK time.
