Aston Villa have taken their bid to register £10m striker Brian Madjo to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with a hearing set for one July in Switzerland.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Fifa ruled he could not be registered before his 18th birthday in January next year, leaving the teenage striker in limbo since his move from Metz six months ago.

He has been unable to play for any Villa team after Fifa rejected his registration on the grounds he was joining from an overseas club.

Under Fifa regulations on international transfers, he is ineligible to feature until he turns 18, and Villa’s attempt to register him was dismissed despite him being born in England.

Madjo grew up in Luxembourg and has been capped by them at international level, while he has also played for England at youth level.

He has been allowed to train with the first team at Bodymoor Heath, but for now he cannot play in matches until midway through next season.
