At least one person was killed in a shooting at a World Cup fan zone in San José, California, on Sunday. According to L'Équipe, the incident took place at the city’s fan zone.

No match was being shown at the time.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide, and several surrounding streets were closed.

The majority of bars in the area were also shut following the shooting.

The San Pedro Square fan zone is among several venues across the San Francisco Bay Area that have been screening matches from 11 June to 19 July.
