The 24-year-old has had a mixed season to date,  but over the past two games against Aston Villa and Southampton he’s impressed as a makeshift striker.

Neto on adapting to Chelsea

Given the continued absence of Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu, Neto was once again deployed down the middle against the Saints.

Having grabbed an assist in the defeat to Villa, Neto went one better as he thumped home Chelsea’s second goal in the 4-0 win, and helped himself to another assist.

The Portugal international seems to enjoying the striker role and he’s now taken his season tally to three goals and four assists in 24 Premier League appearances.

Chelsea will clearly be looking for more output from Neto and their other attackers, but the Portuguese seems to be finding his rhythm at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking after the game Neto opened up on the difference of playing for Chelsea compared to Wolves, and highlighted one key difference.

“When I was at Wolves most teams play high block, when I came here most teams played a low block because they saw you can’t press high against us at the start of the season so I am adding to my game dribbling in small spaces, it’s important the combinations against low block,” he told TNT Sports.

“I used to run a lot into big spaces and it’s a threat that I still have, but the contact on the ball in the box, to be more calm and put the ball in the net is one thing I want to add to my game and I will keep improving on that.”

Chelsea will hope Neto can continue his good form with a trip to Copenhagen up next in the Conference League, before Premier League games against Leicester and Arsenal.
