There is a potential transfer merry-go-round for midfielders, as while Atalanta ask Cagliari for Gianluca Gaetano, the Sardinians could replace him with Inter’s Kristjan Asllani.
The summer is in full swing and the transfer market takes centre stage in Serie A, with many clubs seeking to revitalise their squads.

Atalanta are making changes for new coach Maurizio Sarri, and one of the primary candidates he has requested is Gaetano.
According to Sky Sport Italia, a meeting will take place this evening with Cagliari representatives to discuss the possible agreement.
There is still a fairly big gap between the offer of €12m and the asking price of €18m, but they could end up splitting the difference at €15m.
If that does go through, then Cagliari need a replacement and they have a few different options.
It had already been noted that they were close to a €5m deal with Pisa for Switzerland international Michel Aebischer.
Another alternative mentioned by Tuttomercatoweb is Asllani, who is returning to Inter following his loan experiences at first Torino and then Besiktas.
The Sardinians would only be able to get him if this was another loan with option to buy attached.
